  • Mbali Nqobile Mdikane

    RESIDENT

    Mdikane is a visual artist who explores themes of healing and meditation within the post-apartheid Black South African community. She holds Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand (2023). Mdikane’s work challenges societal norms by representing the diversity of Black identity and seeks to empower and promote visibility.

  • Masindi Mbolekwa

    RESIDENT

    Mbolekwa is a visual artist living and practising in Johannesburg, South Africa. He acquired an Honours in Fine Arts from the University of Witwatersrand (2023). His work explores binaries, and seeks to interrogate identity, the mechanisms of colonialism, religion, and metaphysical reality.

  • Sam Ngcobo

    RESIDENT

    Ngcobo is a performance, drawings, and installation artist. Her work engages with the subject matters of the Black female body and how she can re-represent it outside the constraints of coloniality, tradition, culture, religion and patriarchy by challenging ways of seeing experiences connected to Black womanhood.

  • Kamva Matuis

    RESIDENT

    Matuis is a Johannesburg-based artist who uses creativity and art to discover the self while interacting and negotiating with the external world. He hails from the Eastern Cape and is completing his BA in Fine Arts at the University of Witwatersrand.

  • Lizzie Wee

    INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT

    Lizzie Wee is a Singaporean multidisciplinary artist, curator, designer, illustrator, art director and video editor. She has lived in many cities including Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Berlin, Boston, New York, and Singapore. She received her BFA from New York University and an MA Fine Arts from the Goldsmiths programme at LASALLE College of the Arts.

  • Dylan Chan

    INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT

    Dylan Chan is a Singapore-based artist and curator who graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with Bachelors in Fine Arts (Hons). He was awarded the Winston Oh (Practice) Award 2018 & 2022, and nominated for the prestigious Takifuji Art Award 2021, Sovereign Art Prize 2024.

  • Isa Pengskul

    INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT

    Isa Pengskul is a Thai American conceptual artist. During her undergraduate years Pengskul studied Philosophy and Studio Art at Vassar College, NY. She completed her Master of Arts in Fine Arts with distinction at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore.

  • Baha Suleiman

    INTERNATIONAL RESIDENT

    Baha Suleiman is a Palestinian/Jordanian documentary photographer based in Amman, Jordan. Suleiman is carrying out his second residency with BLVCK BLOCK. His work seeks to capture the stark similarities between the Palestinian diasporic experience and the black South African experience through the lens of forced dispossession. 

  • Themba Mwanza

    Mwanza is a South African, multidisciplinary artist. He completed his BA Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2020. His practice is centred around portraiture and figurative painting.

  • Kay-leigh Fisher

    Fisher is a visual artist, curator and publisher based in Johannesburg.  She holds an Honours in Curatorship degree from Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town (2020) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand (2019).
